Each playgroup determines for themselves how much of the play is free form and how much is guided by the adults. Guided play is where the adults have control over the direction of the activity and the use of the play equipment or facilities. Free form is where kids decide for themselves how and what they want to play with.
Most playgroups have a combination of both, for example they may end a play session with story time or singing and dancing.
